Honoring the life of Robert Brown - 20 Brierwood Circle
Robert Louis Brown, Sr., 76, passed away peacefully at his home Friday, September 11, 2009 after a long-fought battle with leukemia. He is preceded in death by his parents William Edgar Brown and Flora Goode Brown. Robert (Bob) is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ouida N. Brown, his son Robert L. Brown, Jr. and daughter-in-law Carmen Brown of Germantown, two young grandsons Collin and Griffin Brown, his sister Janette Dodds of Millington and brother William Brown of Gainesville, Florida. Bob was born June 27, 1933 in Memphis, TN. A veteran of the Korean War and a member of the 182nd Airborne Division, Bob served his country bravely as a paratrooper. Upon returning home, he obtained his Master's Plumbers license and eventually operated his own plumbing and heating business for many years. He later worked as a county plumbing inspector and Master Plumber for Baptist Hospital from which he retired in 1996 to focus on being active in his grandchildren's lives. Throughout his many years of working, he served his customers with the utmost integrity and prided himself on a job well done. He was a member of Collierville Baptist Church, the Masonic Lodge of Bartlett and a Shriner. Over the many years, Bob was a hard worker, a kind boss, and a devoted friend and teacher to many. Yet, Bob was most proud of being a loving husband to his beautiful wife, a dedicated father to his only child, and a devoted grandfather (Pappoo) to his adoring grandsons. All throughout his life, Bob quietly served others through acts of kindness and gifts of financial support. In Matthew 25:35, Jesus states, "For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat. I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in." Bob truly lived this verse. He always welcomed people who had no family nearby into his home during the holidays. He loved others and never hesitated to help those in need. Although he will be deeply missed by his family and friends, we rejoice that Bob is now in heaven with Jesus Christ, free from all suffering. Bob can now say, "I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:2. May our loving God bestow on Robert L. Brown, Sr. a crown of righteousness. Collierville Funeral is in charge. The Funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church of Collierville, Saturday, September 12 at 2 pm. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to LeBonheur or First Baptist Church of Collierville--Building Fund. Collierville Funeral Home (901) 853-2628.

GOOD NEIGHBORS
Special thanks to the block captains who stepped up to the plate to deliver directories: Beth Vornbrock, Lynn Dupuis, Linda Elam and Carolyn Davis! Also, even though they aren't "technically" block captains, Jennifer Easton, Candice Burkert, Hattie Chambers, Phyllis Kelton, Carol King, Angela Peterson, and Donna Russell volunteered to deliver directories to their nearest neighbors as well. Thank you so much, ladies!
The remaining block captains: Heather Page, Jeanie Snider, Pam Sammons, Carolyn Chan and Yvonne Daniel may set up a time to come get their neighbors' directories for distribution. The best way to contact me is via email, but my home number is 854-2190.

Incomplete information
I have received several emails from concerned residents who must have scrolled down to the bottom of the blog and saw the old post from June 24th where their name might have been listed due to incomplete directory information. Rest easy. I got your information. There were only 5 households who did not respond to my requests for directory information. If you did not receive a data sheet hand-delivered by my daughter on July 11th, then you are okay!
